Smitline for Claude Code.

Can Claude Code make phone calls? Not on its own. With Smitline connected, Claude Code can make phone calls for you: tell it who to call and what you need, Smitline calls the US or Canadian number in a natural voice, and Claude Code tells you what was said and agreed. What you need: Claude Code in the terminal, the desktop app or an IDE.

Calls use prepaid credit, by the second while connected.

Illustration: setting up Smitline in Claude Code. Terminal: claude mcp add --transport http smitline …. Then: /mcp → smitline → Authenticate. The result: connected with OAuth. Claude Code can make phone calls.

Set it up

Smitline is in private beta: signing in needs an invite, and the invite says where to make the API key for YOUR_SMITLINE_KEY. Get early access

Good to know: Headless runs (claude -p) can’t open a browser to sign in. Sign in once from an interactive session, or use an API key.

From Anthropic: Claude Code: MCP (opens in a new tab). Checked 1 November 2026.

  1. Add Smitline from a terminal. --scope user makes it available in every project:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user smitline https://app.smitline.com/mcp
  2. In Claude Code, run /mcp, choose smitline and Authenticate. Sign in to Smitline and allow access.

Or use an API key

  1. Add Smitline with your key in a header instead of signing in:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user smitline https://app.smitline.com/mcp \
      --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SMITLINE_KEY"

Then ask Claude Code to make a call

It says it’s an AI calling for you and follows the calling rules. Ideas: what people hand over. Another app? Pick yours. Everything else, from following a call live to the full list of tools: the docs.
