Smitline for your code.

Can my own code place AI phone calls? Yes. Smitline places the call in a natural voice from a brief your code sends, and returns the outcome, the details and the transcript. Plain HTTPS with an API key, from any language.

Calls use prepaid credit, by the second while connected.

Illustration: setting up Smitline with the REST API. POST /v1/calls: A brief: who to call and what you need. Then: Authorization: Bearer your key. The result: connected with an API key. Your code can place calls.

Set it up

Smitline is in private beta: signing in needs an invite, and the invite says where to make the API key for YOUR_SMITLINE_KEY. Get early access

Good to know: The full API description is at https://app.smitline.com/v1/openapi.json (send your key).

  1. Start a call with a brief: who to call, what the call must achieve, and what to find out:

    curl https://app.smitline.com/v1/calls \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SMITLINE_KEY" \
      -H "content-type: application/json" \
      -d '{
        "channel": "phone",
        "to": "+14165550134",
        "onBehalfOf": "Alex",
        "objective": "Book a table for 2 at 7 pm on Friday.",
        "questions": ["Is 7 pm free? If not, the closest time before 8 pm?"],
        "mayAgreeTo": ["any time from 6:30 to 8 pm"]
      }'
  2. Then follow it with GET https://app.smitline.com/v1/calls/{id}/wait (or /events for live updates) until it ends, and read the summary, details and transcript.

Then send your first brief

It says it’s an AI calling for you and follows the calling rules. Ideas: what people hand over. Another app? Pick yours. Everything else, from following a call live to the full list of tools: the docs.
