Troubleshooting

Connecting

The agent doesn't show Smitline

  • Check that you pasted the address exactly: https://app.smitline.com/mcp.
  • Some agents need the connector turned on in each chat. In Claude, click + → Connectors; in ChatGPT, type @ and pick Smitline.
  • On a work account (ChatGPT Business, Claude Team, Grok Business), an admin may have to add or allow custom connectors first.

Sign-in fails or loops

Sign in to the Smitline dashboard in the same browser first, then connect again.

During the private beta, your account needs an invite: ask for one on the early access page.

An API key is refused

A 401 means the key is wrong or was revoked. Make a new one under Connect → API keys, and send it as Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SMITLINE_KEY.

When a call is refused

Smitline checks every call before it rings. A refused call comes back with a code and a message written to pass on to you:

  • insufficient_credit: not enough credit. The answer says how many minutes you have and links to the Wallet.
  • verification_required: verify your phone number first.
  • name_required: add your name in the dashboard. Every call is made in your name.
  • spending_cap_reached: you reached your daily or monthly spending limit. Raise it in Settings, or wait.
  • destination_not_allowed: the number is outside the places you can call. Smitline calls the US and Canada.
  • outside_calling_hours: it's outside 8 am to 9 pm where the other person is. Try later.
  • number_blocked: the number asked not to be called by Smitline. Don't try to get around it.
  • too_many_active_calls: too many of your calls are running at once. Wait for one to end.
  • daily_call_limit: you've started as many calls as your plan allows for now. The message says when you can start another.
  • brief_incomplete: the brief is missing something. Your agent asks you for it.

When a call doesn't go as planned

  • Nobody answered. The result's outcome is not_reached or voicemail, and you weren't charged for ringing. Try another time.
  • It reached a phone menu. Smitline can't press keypad options yet. Look for a direct number.
  • It didn't know something. Add it to the brief's context next time, or follow the call live and pass it on. See Follow and steer a live call.
  • The meeting never let it in. It waits in the lobby until someone admits it. Ask the host to let Smitline in.

Still stuck?

Write to [email protected] with the call's ID from the dashboard.
